Our mission
We develop and integrate innovative technologies to support every step of the surgical patient journey, strengthen patient involvement, improve the safety of surgical procedures, and support patients throughout their postoperative recovery.

Our innovations
From planning to recovery, our projects address today's clinical challenges while helping shape the surgery of tomorrow.
Discover our projects
Software developed by BOPA to facilitate communication between surgeon and patient before liver surgery, helping the patient better understand the procedure and take an active role in their own care.
Discover LiverSight
A "made in BOPA" device to film the surgeon's hands and movements up close during open surgery.

A conversational AI that supports transplant patients around the clock.
Our vision
Our ambition is not to innovate for innovation's sake, but to turn innovation into progress for everyone.
However effective it may be, an innovation only transforms practice if it can truly be adopted and deployed. BOPA builds its projects around three essential conditions to take innovation from prototype to shared progress.
Innovation
An innovation that fits into
clinical practice.
Designing solutions with healthcare professionals that fit their practices and needs, so they are truly adopted.
An innovation that integrates with what already exists.
Developing solutions that work with the equipment, tools and systems already in place in the operating room.
An innovation that can be
deployed for the long term.
Considering its economic viability and environmental impact from the design stage, to enable deployment at scale.
Progress
for all
At the crossroads of research, clinical practice and digital technology, the BOPA Innovation Chair is shaping the surgery of tomorrow to improve patient care.
Founded in 2020 by Prof. Éric Vibert, a transplant surgeon at Paul-Brousse AP-HP hospital and professor at Université Paris-Saclay, the BOPA Chair is jointly run by AP-HP, the Institut Mines-Télécom (IMT) and Université Paris-Saclay.
The BOPA Chair conducts rigorous, forward-looking academic research. It generates new knowledge, shares it with the scientific community, and helps train the next generation of researchers.

From research to impact
The BOPA Chair is committed to turning research into concrete, genuinely useful solutions. This ambition takes shape in two complementary ways: through solutions already deployed in practice, and by strengthening ties between academic medicine and industry.
1. Tangible results in clinical practice
Research conducted within BOPA has already helped bring about and deploy concrete solutions, in particular through the creation of start-ups and the development of medical software directly useful to healthcare professionals and patients.
2. Strengthening ties between AP-HP and the pharmaceutical and MedTech industries
The second focus is to build and strengthen bridges between AP-HP and pharma and medtech companies, to foster the development, testing and deployment of innovations as close as possible to real-world needs.
